Community Helpers

Important Dates and Information:

Week of Monday, May 10th– Unit 6 Assessments: Listening Comprehension, Opinion Writing and Sight Words.

Wednesday, May 12th– Crowing Mary: Students are invited to bring in fresh cut flowers all month to place around Mother Mary in our classroom.

Monday, May 17th– New Homework will be sent home

Friday, May 21st– Lesson 28 Quick Check Assessment

Friday, May 28thLesson 29 Quick Check assessment and Homework Packet Due

Kindergarten Prayer Service at 2:00 pm in the Church (only mom and dad are invited: as per administration guidelines) More information to come as we get closer.

Specials:

Monday, Tuesday, Friday (Spanish, music, guidance):   Children need to wear their regular uniforms (no PE).  Approved shoes and navy socks are required.  Tennis shoes are not to be worn on these days.  Belts are required if there are belt loops.

Theme: Community Helpers & Fire Safety

Reading: Beginning, Middle & Ending Sounds, blending sounds into words, reading simple sentences, rhyming, and reading comprehension  

Word Study: Review letters/sounds, Blending, CVC words

Grammar: Subject- Verb Agreement  

Sight Word Assessment: just, have, help, one, very, every, ask, walk, look, their, saw, out

(Please practice the sight words nightly at home)  

Writing:   Opinion Writing, unscrambling, and writing a complete sentence, focusing on proper sentence formation

 Math: The students will learn touch points to help solve simple addition facts and practice writing and counting to 100.

Religion: The Rosary and Mary: Our Lady of the Rosary

Science/Social Studies/Art: We will learn about Community Helpers and Fire Safety

To Work on at Home:

Practice Weekly Emergent Reader

Correct letter and Number formation (top to bottom, left to right)

Continue to practice sight words & color words

Practice reading and writing simple sentences
