Looking Ahead to September 26th

Thank you to all the parents who ordered from our Scholastic Book order this month. All orders have been placed and will be here this week! I’m excited to order new books for our classroom library using bonus points earned by all your orders:)

Language Arts:

Journeys weekly story:  Unit 1 Review

Grammar: Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives

Spelling: short vowels (a,e,i,o,u)

Words:

Our Unit 1 test will be given on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday will be the Unit 1 writing test. Thursday is story comprehension and Friday we will test phonics and spelling.

Math:  Lessons 25.1- 28

Lesson 25.1: Writing number sentences for some, some more stories

Lesson 25.2: written assessment 4

Lesson 26:  Creating and reading a pattern

Lesson 27:  Addition Facts: Doubles with Sums to 18

Lesson 28:  Addition Facts: Doubles with Sums to 18

Religion:

We will continue Chapter 3: God watches over everything and working on our prayer journals

Science/Social Studies: We will continue to learn about maps, sequencing the life cycle of an apple and labeling the parts.

Enrichment: Apple activities and learning about Johnny Appleseed

Homework packet came home last Thursday in the Thursday folder.

Reading: Read a book or have someone read to you nightly. Complete Reading Log

Spelling Words: practice writing your spelling words nightly and reading high frequency words

Reading/Spelling Homework needs to be returned every Friday.

Math: written practice is sent home nightly, except for days we complete an assessment. Please complete side B and return the next day.

A Peek at the Week! September5th

It was a wonderful week in our First Grade Classroom! The students are getting used to the routines of our classroom and daily schedule. We had lots of fun learning about Weather and Clouds to go along with our Journeys Story, The Storm. We also ended our week learning and reading about Mother Teresa becoming a Saint and Labor Day! Have a safe and relaxing long weekend! I look forward to another great week!
